Belki
(Russia)
Biography
Novosibirsk, Russia
Belki is the DJ, producer and promoter duo Da Belka aka Mariya Aleynikova (22) and Mr. Belk aka Denis Yashin (22) from Novosibirsk. Both were also organizers of the so-called Belchatniks, the first Siberian techno festivals with a cult status that were held in abandoned factories in their native city. More recently they founded their own label and opened the first techno club Residency Belchatnik.
“We are from Novosibirsk, Siberia and we've been involved in electronic music since 2003 and we were a Brit-pop band before and before and before we studied in music school before. In 2007 we have entered the Academy of fine arts in Vienna, then we moved to Moscow and now we live in Vienna. So … we don't like to speak about digital codes and granular synthesis - we prefer talking about the music in all its varieties. But, for sure, most of all we like to write and to play the music. We are not fans of somebody, we always try to create our own style of sound and respect people who did or do that, but we are not in rush for a new sounds and fashion genre. We can't explain what we do - we leave it for others.”
